Hospital facilities in the Canby Community can be traced to the early 1900's. The first formal hospital was created when John W. Swenson bequeathed his home to the city for use as a hospital. That original hospital and the growth in healthcare services has led to the development of a local healthcare system with a wide array of healthcare services and facilities together on one campus for the efficiency and convenience of our patients.
Today, Sanford Canby Medical Center is a part of Sanford Health working together as a larger system of care to better serve our patients and communities.
The Hentge's Center was constructed in 2002. This building houses the Wellness Center, Ambulance Services, Home Health, Behavioral Health Services, and the Dental Clinic. In 2003 the hospital was renovated with a new addition for larger patient rooms, maternity suites, a new pharmacy, and other improvements.
